321

 Data Sheet

316 is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum austenitic stainless steel, suitable for us in severely corrosive conditions.  The additions of molybdenum to 316 stainless gives it a better corrosion resistance than other stainless steel grades such as 304, with 316 stainless achieving higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. The 316 'L'  grade has a reduced carbon content to improve corrosion resistance after welding.
